Ian and Karen 

It has been a life long dream of ours to do something like this…Ian and I would sit at the bottom of our garden and fantasize about having some holiday cottages or log cabins, we’d talk about how we would do things and what we could offer guests. When we had to relocate to Yorkshire with Ian's work, we got the chance to set up one self- catering apartment and with us both working in high pressure jobs it was an amazing antidote to return in the evening to see our guests enjoying the sun set and a glass of wine.  We made some good friends along the way.  In late 2018 we acquired Brickfields Farm; a tired business badly in need of some TLC.  We brought our diverse industry skills with us and fully entered the wonderful world of hospitality.  It’s a different industry sector but we are still working with people, meeting their needs, sharing stories and life experiences and loving every minute.


Meet Chef Geoff Smith 

Talented local chef

Friendly & Efficient...

The man behind the Feather & Beak @ Brickfields kitchen.  Influenced by his travels in Europe and the Middle East Geoff’s love for quality ingredients, classic training and brave seasoning produce delightful dishes with a modern twist.  Geoff honed his craft in well-known restaurants and hotels both in the city and on the coast, where he gained is enthusiasm for preparing fish and seafood paired with some unusual accompaniments like liquorice and grape.  Working through the ranks from chef de partie, sous chef to head chef and finally consultant chef, Geoff’s experience in the restaurant environment has led to an award-winning past achieving 3 AA rosettes, Michelin listing and numerous awards.  Now supporting the creative development of a unique dining experience at The Feather & Beak based at Brickfields Farm, a bistro offering many of his signature dishes both from the kitchen and from the wood fired ovens.
